Introduction

Mike Swift, President SCP

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Sugar Creek Player’s website. We hope you've had the opportunity to enjoy performances at our community theatre, the Vanity Theater.

We’ve been quite busy since the holidays. In addition to rehearsing
the upcoming shows, we have completed several important
projects:

• To improve safety, we have rebuilt the front staircase to the upper
levels. This was funded by a grant from the Montgomery County
Community Foundation (MCCF).

• Teresa Slinker and a few others have repainted the public areas at
the front of the theatre. That’s a lot of fine work, and we sure
appreciate it.

• We have built new dressing rooms in the backstage annex. Today’s
cast will use these rooms for the very first time. Thanks to Paul Rusk
for organizing this backstage improvement.

Along with all this volunteer effort, it takes money to operate our
not-for-profit theatre. Ticket sales provide only about half of that
funding. The other half comes primarily from donations of one form or
another. Almost every penny of our funding is provided by the
citizens, businesses, and organizations of Montgomery County. We thank
you for your support — past, present, and future.

In exchange for your generous gifts, we try hard to provide
entertaining productions. These shows create opportunities for the
citizens of our community to participate in the live arts. Every year,
we enable hundreds of people, mostly children, to develop their
talents on our theatre’s stage. Our casts range from youngsters in
front of an audience for the first time to folks in their 80’s and 90’s.

We’re always looking for more people to join our shows as actors,
stage crew, set-builders, backstage organizers, cookie bakers, and
many other roles. Please let us know how you’d like to participate.

On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I thank you.

Come enjoy our shows!

Michael Swift, President, The Sugar Creek Players
