"The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It's the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared.”
“The life where nothing was ever unexpected. Or inconvenient. Or unusual. The life without color, pain or past.”
The Sugar Creek Players will present a stage version of one of the best-loved young adult novels of all time: Lois Lowry’s The Giver. Lowry’s dystopian novel came to life on the big screen in 2014, with Jeff Bridges starring in the title role. The stage play stays closer to the original novel in telling the coming-of-age story of Jonas, a boy who receives an honored position in his utopian society. Jonas must make difficult decisions as he becomes increasingly aware of the high cost his community has paid in order to achieve perfection.
